An AhaSlides alternative for facilitators
Praxis Live vs AhaSlides
AhaSlides is the better pick if price decides it, if you want a free plan to start on and thousands of templates, or if the session is a quiz with teams and a leaderboard.
Praxis Live is the better pick for facilitators whose rooms need to talk to each other and decide something together, and whose work has to keep going afterward: a report your sponsor can be reading the same afternoon, and follow-up drafted from the room's own answers.
Praxis Live is built by facilitators, for the way facilitators actually run a room.

| Praxis Live | AhaSlides | |
|---|---|---|
| What participants need | A phone or a computer, whichever is handy. They scan a QR code, type a short code, or open it in a browser tab. No app to download. | A browser on any phone, tablet or computer. They scan a QR code or type a link or access code. No account needed, unless you turn on participant verification.3,5 |
| Activity types | The usual ones, like polls, word clouds, Q and A and ranking. Plus icebreakers and team building that are tried and true and built right in, like Classroom 404, Story Relay and Hot Seat. Designed by facilitators, from 30 years of running rooms. | Polls, word clouds, open ended, brainstorm, rating scales, ranking, a 2 by 2 matrix, Q&A, an idea board and a spinner wheel, plus quiz types like Pick Answer, Match Pairs and Correct Order. Its site says 20+ slide types and thousands of templates.3,4 |
| Putting people in groups | Find Your Match pairs people who picked the same thing, or deliberately the opposite, and tells both of them why. Small Talks sorts the room into groups by what they think. | Team quizzes: each player picks one of the teams you set up, and teams compete for points (not on every plan). We didn't find a feature that pairs people by how they answered.6 |
| Facilitation methods | Built-in activities for Nominal Group Technique, Dot Vote, What, So What, Now What, table discussions, a photo of each table’s flip chart on the wall, and Before and After. | A Brainstorm slide where people submit ideas, vote with a set number of votes and see them ranked, close to a dot vote. An Idea Board with groups you name, like Start, Stop and Continue, or AI grouping.7,8 |
| Turnkey team building games | A Team building shelf: Classroom 404, Story Relay, Grid Logic, The Bigger Picture and Hot Seat. Make a few choices in the editor, and the room needs nothing but their phones. | Team quizzes, where each player picks a team and teams compete for points (not on every plan), plus a spinner wheel and quiz formats. We didn’t find turnkey team building games like these.6,3 |
| The report after the session | Praxis drafts a report from what the room said: what to work on next first, then themes and quotes, no names. You edit and approve it, then share one link. | A presentation report you can share by link, a report for each participant with their name, email and organization if they gave them, Ask AI for plain-language questions about your results, and Excel export (not on every plan).9,10,11 |
| AI with the room's answers | Summarize puts a few plain lines about what the room wrote on the wall. Built-in AI suggests themes for a wall of answers, and you keep or break them apart with the room watching. AI types up a photo of each table’s flip chart and marks every word it isn’t sure of. | AI grouping on the Idea Board, and Ask AI plus automatically generated insights on the report (not on a report shared by public link). We didn’t find a way to read a photographed flip chart.8,10 |
| Each person's own answers | Take it with you ends the session: each phone gets that person’s answers next to how the room answered, Save as PDF, and Remind me in a week, a calendar file. | A My Answers tab where people review their own answers on every interactive slide type and revisit the slides, once you allow it (not on every plan).12 |
| Before and after the session | Praxis Journeys, a second product: short sessions before and after, a quick recall, a journal prompt, a weekly challenge and a cohort conversation, with email reminders. Live drafts two or three weeks of follow-up from what the room said; you edit it and place it in the journey. | Self-paced mode lets people go through a presentation without a host, which its site markets for spaced repetition. A course builder for self-paced lessons is rolling out, its help center says.4,13,14 |
| PowerPoint and Google Slides | Runs on its own screen. Bring in your deck from PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote, and the activities go between the slides. It doesn't run inside PowerPoint. | A PowerPoint add-in for the desktop app, a Google Slides add-on, and PowerPoint or PDF import on every plan, up to 50 MB and 100 slides.16,17,18 |
| Building a session with AI | Tell the built-in AI what you want the room to do and it suggests activities, then drafts the one you pick. One click turns an imported slide into an editable one. To build a whole session from your deck or notes, connect your own Claude or ChatGPT. | An AI Panel builds and edits whole presentations from a prompt. Import a PowerPoint or PDF and AI can read it and make interactive slides from it. An MCP server lets Claude and ChatGPT create presentations in AhaSlides.21,20,22 |
| If the internet goes down | Praxis Live needs internet too. Backup PowerPoint downloads the session as a deck that needs none: every activity becomes something the room does with hands, pens or voices. | Needs a good, stable internet connection, its help center says. A phone that drops off for a moment reconnects on its own. We didn't find an offline version.5,19 |
| Price | 14-day free trial, no card. | A free plan with 50 participants a month and no time limit; a free presentation holds up to 5 quiz and 3 poll questions. Essential is $7.95 and Pro $15.95 a month billed yearly, or $26.95 and $49.95 month to month. Enterprise is custom. Prices in USD, as shown to us.1,2 |
Fair is fair
Where AhaSlides is the better choice
AhaSlides is a good tool at a good price, and plenty of sessions need exactly what it does. If one of these is you, start there.
Price is the deciding factor
AhaSlides publishes its prices, and they’re low: Essential is $7.95 a month billed yearly, with unlimited participants, and you can pay month to month.1 If you run sessions on a tight budget, that matters.
A free plan to start on
The free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card, with 50 participants a month.1,2 Praxis Live has a 14-day free trial and no free plan.
Quizzes with teams and a leaderboard
Pick Answer, Match Pairs, Correct Order and more, scored on a leaderboard, with team play and three ways to score a team.3,6 If the quiz is the point of the session, AhaSlides is built for it.
Templates, your own slides, and AI that reads them
Its site counts thousands of templates, including hundreds of icebreakers. It has a PowerPoint add-in, a Google Slides add-on, and apps for Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Import a PowerPoint or PDF, and AI can read it and make interactive slides from it, right in the app.3,4,20 Praxis Live takes your deck from PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote; to build from a deck with AI, you connect your own Claude or ChatGPT.
Brainstorm and vote
The Brainstorm slide takes ideas, gives everyone a set number of votes, and reveals them ranked. The Idea Board sorts ideas into groups you name, or lets AI group them.7,8 For a quick prioritization, that may be all you need.
Each person reviews their answers, and quizzes run as homework
The My Answers tab lets people look back over their own answers after the session. Self-paced mode runs a quiz or survey with no host, and Preview mode shows the presenter and participant screens side by side for a dry run.12,13,15
Where Praxis Live is different
Built for the facilitator, and for what happens after.
A question on the big screen and answers from phones: if you’ve used AhaSlides, you know that part. Praxis Live is built around what the room does with it: who talks to whom, how a group decides, and what keeps going once everyone goes home.
01
Groups made from what people think, not teams they pick.
In a quiz, teams are for keeping score. In a workshop, who you talk to is the point. Find Your Match pairs people who picked the same thing, or deliberately somebody who picked the opposite. Both are told who they got and why, quoting what each of them picked. A first name goes to one other person, and the phone says so before anyone answers.
Small Talks, at the top of this page, does it for groups: everyone’s answer becomes a colored badge, and the room sorts itself by what it thinks.

02
The methods you already run on flip charts, built in.
AhaSlides’ Brainstorm slide is close to a dot vote, and Praxis Live has a Dot Vote too. The difference is the rest of the kit: Nominal Group Technique, where everybody writes alone before anybody speaks and then the room ranks. What, So What, Now What. Table discussions that come back as words on the wall, and a photo of each table’s flip chart, typed up by AI with every unsure word marked. Before and After, which leads with what didn’t move.
Having people write ideas alone before pooling them produces more ideas than open discussion. That is why the nominal group technique exists.Van de Ven and Delbecq (1974), Academy of Management Journal 17(4), 605-621.

03
A read for your sponsor, not a spreadsheet.
When the session ends, Praxis drafts a report from what the room said: what to work on next at the top, then the themes and quotes, no names attached. AI helps draft it, and you approve it before it’s shared. Your sponsor can be reading it the same afternoon.
Each person also leaves with their own page: what they said, next to where the room landed, with Save as PDF and Remind me in a week. AhaSlides has a similar page, My Answers, so count this one as even.
Leading Through Change · Day 1
SampleWhat to work on next
The room is ready to name hard things, and stuck on where to start. Pick one priority for the next thirty days and make it the first agenda item every week.
What the room kept coming back to
- Saying the hard thing early14
- Too many priorities at once11
- Feedback only flows down8
- Meetings without decisions5
“We agree in the room and then nobody owns it on Monday.”
Quotes are shown with no names.
04
The weeks after are planned from what this room said.
AhaSlides’ self-paced mode lets people take a quiz or survey on their own time, and its course builder, still rolling out, holds self-paced lessons. What Praxis adds is follow-up drafted from the room’s own answers: two or three weeks of Monday, Wednesday and Friday drops.
You edit it and place it in a Praxis Journey: sessions under 15 minutes, a quick recall, a journal prompt, a weekly challenge, the cohort talking it through, and an email when each one is ready. Praxis Journeys starts with a call, and isn’t part of the 14-day trial.
Your Monday drop is ready. About ten minutes.
About AI
Both use AI. They point it at different things.
Matched. Both group what people wrote, build from a prompt, and connect to Claude or ChatGPT. AhaSlides also reads an imported PowerPoint or PDF with AI inside the app, which Praxis Live does only through your own Claude or ChatGPT.8,21,20,22
Different. Praxis drafts the weeks after from the room’s own answers, types up photographed flip charts, and drafts a sponsor report that is shared only after you approve it. We didn’t find those in AhaSlides.
Using both
You don’t have to pick one for everything.
If your team already has AhaSlides for quiz rounds, all-hands polls and homework quizzes, keep it there. Use Praxis Live for the working sessions: the leadership offsite, the training day, the room where people need to talk to each other and decide something together.
Praxis Journeys works on its own too, so a program can add the before and the after around any session. The one thing that needs Praxis Live in the room is follow-up drafted from what that room actually said.
Questions buyers ask
AhaSlides or Praxis Live?
- Is Praxis Live a good AhaSlides alternative?
- For facilitators running workshops and training, yes. The room part works the same way: a question on the big screen, answers from phones. The difference is what the room does with it, like pairing people by how they answered and built-in methods such as nominal group technique, and what happens after: a report you approve for your sponsor, and follow-up drafted from the room's answers in Praxis Journeys. If price, a free plan or quizzes are what matter most, AhaSlides may suit you better.
- What does AhaSlides cost?
- AhaSlides publishes low prices: on October 4, 2026 its pricing page showed Essential at $7.95 and Pro at $15.95 a month billed yearly, in USD, plus a free plan with 50 participants a month. Praxis Live starts with a 14-day free trial, no card, and when the trial ends it simply stops. Book a demo to talk about what fits your program.
- Does AhaSlides have anything for after the session?
- Yes. AhaSlides has a shareable report, Ask AI for questions about your results, Excel export, a My Answers tab where people review their own answers, a self-paced mode, and a course builder its help center says is rolling out. Praxis plans the weeks after from what your room said: short sessions with a recall, a journal prompt, a challenge and the cohort, and an email when each is ready.
- How do Praxis Live and AhaSlides compare on AI?
- Closely, on the basics. Both group what people wrote, build from a prompt, and connect to Claude or ChatGPT. AhaSlides also reads an imported PowerPoint or PDF with AI and makes interactive slides from it, inside the app; Praxis Live does that only through your own Claude or ChatGPT. Praxis points AI at different jobs: drafting the weeks after from the room's own answers, typing up photographed flip charts, and drafting a sponsor report that is shared only after you approve it.
- Does Praxis Live work inside PowerPoint?
- No. Praxis Live runs on its own screen. Bring in your deck from PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote, and the activities go between the slides. AhaSlides has a PowerPoint add-in for the desktop app and a Google Slides add-on.
- Do people need to download an app?
- Not for either one. With Praxis Live, people join in the browser on a phone or a computer: scan a QR code, type a short code, or open it in a tab. AhaSlides works the same way, with a QR code, a link or an access code.
See it with your own group.
Play a demo right now, no sign-in. Or build a session with your slides and run it for real: free for 14 days, no card, and when the trial ends it simply stops.
Praxis Journeys, the before and after, starts with a call. It isn’t part of the trial.
